Jamal Musiala has been defended by Lothar Matthäus after being criticised by Dietmar Hamann as a selfish player.

German football legend Lothar Matthaus has hit out at Dietmar Hamann for criticising Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala as a selfish player who does not help his teammates improve after their last two games, Ufabet reported on Friday.

Musiala scored once and provided three assists as Germany thrashed Hungary 5-0 but was not involved in either of the goals in a 2-2 draw with the Netherlands in UEFA Nations League A and was criticised by Hamann for being selfish and not helping his team-mates, but Matthäus also came to the defence of the 21-year-old midfielder.

‘Didi is the type of person who likes to make a different point,’ Matthäus said. ‘I see it differently. Musiala is not someone who plays for himself, not at all. If he has to play one-on-one, he does it. But he also sees teammates who are independent of him, like when Füllkrug scored against Hungary. Jamal could do it himself. ‘

‘Musiala is not superior to anyone, even in duels. Another example was the goal-line challenge against the Netherlands when (Matthijs) de Ligt made a mistake.’

The 61-year-old stressed: ‘Musiala plays and works for the team. He is not selfish at all. He plays counter-pressing and when he has the ball he helps his ยูฟ่าเบท teammates when he can and for what reason. Jamal does things that are really beneficial to the team. And because he does that he has the freedom and must be free to dribble the ball when he thinks it is right. ‘
